What is Fire and Safety?
Fire safety refers to a set of safety procedures and regulations that are followed to reduce the occurrence, cause and impact of fire. Fire safety measures are taken at workplaces to avert the possibility of fire ignition which can go uncontrolled and ravage entire workplaces and its surroundings.
Fire safety measures are generally planned during the construction of buildings and can also be implemented in finished buildings. It is also important to educate occupants about the importance of fire safety and government regulations.
Anything that can trigger fire can be referred as fire safety threats or fire hazards. Fire hazards can include any situation or practices that can cause fire or something which prevents the escape route in the event of fire.

Fire safety always forms part of building safety. Fire department officials who are entrusted with responsibilities to inspect buildings for any fire safety violations and also educate general public and school children about the importance of fire safety are known as Fire Prevention Officers.
